FIRE RATED SHUTTER FOR RESISTANCE OF 1, 2 OR 4 HOURS

A fire rated shutter is designed to meet current fire regulations and reduce the risk of a fire spreading within a property. Each model has been tested to make sure it can contain a fire within an area of a building for 1, 2 or 4 hours. The addition of an interface panel allows them to be integrated into an alarm system for an automatic response in the event of an emergency.

They are therefore commonly used in applications such as canteens and schools. The FS steel fire shutter range has been tested at Exova Warringtonfire under BS EN 16034:2014 test conditions and are CE marked to BS EN 13241-1:2003. Sizes up to 50m2 can be achieved with the use of barrel support frames.

SPECIFYING A FIRE RATED SHUTTER

All our fire rated shutters come with a level of resistance which makes them suitable for high risk areas. Their design helps to create an effective barrier for 1, 2 or 4 hour depending on the fire conditions they have been tested to.

The shutter consists of a box, curtain, guides and bottom rail which can be customised to suit the size of the area. In the event of a fire the alarm system will cause the shutter to descend and create a barrier within the property. If the power fails, then the batter backup will make sure the shutter continues to descend as intended.

FIRE SHUTTER PRICING

Prices for fire shutters vary based on sizes, protection levels, motor types and options. For example, a 3m wide by 2.5m high FS60 with 1 hour protection and tubular motor costs around £1,500. At the same sizes a FS240 with 4 hour protection with an inline motor costs over £2,300. Other factors which impact costs are:

  • Integration Panels : Integration panels connect the fire shutter to central fire alarm systems ensuring operation in an emergency. These cost from £490 dependent on the model and type required.
  • Battery Back-Up : All installations require a battery back-up in accordance with BS EN 16034: 2014 standards, and to ensure smooth operation in the event of a fire causing a power failure. Costs for a Battery back-up are based on a motor size and cost from around £600.
  • Finish. Fire shutters have a galvanised finish as standard, however for an additional cost of £60 per m² they can be powder coated any standard RAL colour. Alternatively, a single side Plastisol coating can be applied for £50 per m².
  • Installation. Customers who use Roché’s fire shutter installation service will receive the peace of mind of a 1 year comprehensive product and workmanship guarantee, with ongoing service contracts available. Installation charges are based on the number of shutters to be installed and the complexity of the job.
